About Evelyn Shoults

I am a visual artist whose work is deeply rooted in personal experience, particularly my ongoing Thyroidectomy Journey series. This body of work transforms the realities of living with thyroid cancer into oil paintings that explore themes of illness, healing, and resilience. Through a limited color palette, trompe l’oeil techniques, and layered textures, I create compositions that invite viewers into an intimate reflection on the body, medical intervention, and survival.

For over two decades, I have explored a range of artistic mediums, continuously refining my practice through exhibitions, competitions, and professional development. My work has been showcased in various galleries and exhibitions, and I remain dedicated to pushing creative boundaries through material experimentation. In addition to my studio practice, my experiences as an educator have deepened my understanding of visual storytelling, allowing me to foster creativity and critical thinking in others while continuously evolving my own artistic approach.

I will graduate with my MFA in Painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design in May 2025, marking a significant milestone in my career as I further develop my artistic voice and continue expanding my presence in the contemporary art world.
